I think I need to update this a little more often. I say that a lot.
Lanscaping job didn't last. I was down to 30-35 hours a week and getting ridden like a rented mule. Plus I was told I couldn't take off for camp, so I had to quit so I could go to camp.
Boot and Paddle was the best week I've had at camp ever. The national Jamboree was awesome, but totally different. Long story short I was offered a job at Treasure Island when I went back for a visit the next week. That was an awesome job, but had a time limit. I spent the 6 weeks after that agressively searching for a job, but wasn't coming up with much.
End September - The job market wasn't as rough as it is now, but sometimes you really have to wonder. Terry Moyer troop 137 has a construction company. I get a call that one of his workers just stopped showing up for work, and wants to know when I can start. Of course now that I have a job, I start getting calls on the applications I put in a month earlier.
Charles River Labs was one, and with a rotating schedule, a starting salary of $29k, and the potential to work with unknown chemical, it was an opportunity I couldn't have justified had I been on unemployment. Thankfully I didn't have to. Superior Tube Company in Collegevill offered me $45k to come on as a manufacturing engineer, and a backup for their chemist.
FUCK YEAH!!!
Not only did I finally get a job, I found one I love.
Posted by orion at December 13, 2008 09:08 PMHaha, that's great news. I also recently found a job I quite enjoy (the job that brought me to Philly), though it's looking a bit uncertain now. Hopefully I'll be able to transfer within the company, do less testing and more analysis.
We should meet up sometime. Are you still in the area?
